Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Region 9 Grantmaking Program

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Thriving Communities Grant Program—a new innovative grant program that empowers local organizations advancing climate and environmental priorities in frontlines communities throughout the region!

Explore a list of allowable projects and activities examples, here.

This grant opportunity is possible through a collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The program will provide subgrants to community-based nonprofits working toward climate and environmental justice in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, the Pacific Islands, and 148 Tribal Nations.

These grants are designed to directly benefit communities that are overburdened by negative environmental impacts and decades of underinvestment.

Eligible projects and activities include those that tackle environmental justice issues such as waste management needs, improving air and water quality, among others.

The Thriving Communities Grant Program application process is designed to be accessible to organizations of all sizes, including first-time grant applicants.

Community-based and grassroots nonprofits, Tribal and local governments, Native American organizations, intertribal consortia, and institutions of higher education are eligible to apply.
