A Banner Year for Liberty Hill & Local Activism!

October 27, 2021
By Courtney Kassel

This past fiscal year we set out to accomplish some truly lofty goals—the fight to end youth incarceration as we know it and invest in youth development, put a stop to toxic neighborhood oil drilling harming vulnerable low income communities of color, and demand a roof over every head and housing as a human right. These are huge tasks no one organization, activist or foundation could accomplish on their own. It takes collection action and collective power to move the needle on the issues that matter in Los Angeles.

That’s why we are so grateful for the entire Liberty Hill Community for your enduring support of our work and mission.

From the frontline activists, organizers and community leaders who power this work to the donor activists and partners who support it, your passion for change keeps the wheels of progress turning.

As L.A. goes, so goes the nation they say. Well, this year alone we made enviable headlines—passing an ordinance to phase out oil drilling in the County after years of organizing and struggle, the creation of a new Department of Youth Development and a new Care First, Jails Last County budget, and the rollout of expanded tenant protections and support to help vulnerable folks stay housed and combat harassment.

This was truly a banner year for activism and progress! We have much work to do on the road ahead, but we couldn’t be prouder to take this journey with you—our Beloved Community.
