AB 3233 Signed Into Law!
VICTORY! The Liberty Hill Community is proud to celebrate a major victory in Environmental Justice that brings us even closer to our Agenda for a Just Future goal of eliminating toxic neighborhood oil drilling!
On Wednesday, September 25th, Governor Newsom signed AB 3233 into law, affirming the right of local governments to safeguard their residents from harmful oil and gas pollution!
This monumental victory will give local communities more authority to protect their neighborhoods from oil and gas operations and will drive faster plugging of old oil and gas wells. It will also end L.A.’s historic role as a center of oil extraction, setting us on a new path towards renewable clean energy.
Thanks to the full power of our community, including the tireless organizing and advocacy work by Liberty Hill community partners at STAND-LA and other partners across the state, AB 3233 will now ensure the protection of frontline communities from deadly pollution and hold Big Oil accountable for its actions.
Liberty Hill is a founding member of the STAND LA coalition, funding community organizations on the forefront of the fight to end toxic neighborhood oil drilling. Liberty Hill will continue to prioritize environmental justice, and fight for a safer, healthier, greener L.A. for all.
