Andrea Vidaurre Awarded the 2024 Goldman Environmental Prize
The prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize celebrates grassroots environmental leaders who make significant contributions to the fight for environmental justice across the world.
This year the global institution recognized co-founder of the People’s Collective for Environmental Justice, Andrea Vidaurre, for her leadership on two historic transportation regulations that significantly limit trucking and rail emissions in the California. The In-Use Locomotive Rule, the nation’s first emission rule for trains, and the California Advanced Clean Fleets Rule, are a product of Andrea’s resilient leadership and commitment to finding solutions for the impacts of the global freight transportation system.
As the sole honoree for the U.S. region, Andrea joins environmental champions from around the world that have made significant efforts to protect and enhance the natural environment.
The People’s Collective for Environmental Justice—co-founded by Andrea in 2020 to advocate for a just transition toward zero emissions—was recently selected as a Liberty Hill Environment + Justice Donor Circle grantee.
Liberty Hill is proud to celebrate Andrea on this astonishing accolade and supports the inspiring work of People’s Collective for Environmental Justice for a more sustainable future for all.
