Donor-Activists Take Action on Youth Incarceration
Liberty Hill donor-activists from across Los Angeles turned their energy into action this spring by sending letters to elected officials to encourage support for the Youth Reinvestment Grant in the 2019–2020 state budgeting process. The Grant provides resources to local communities to prevent youth arrest and incarceration.
“I care about this issue so strongly because it is clear to me, and the data shows, that society at large is best served by helping youth to improve their lives and atone for their mistakes by diverting them away from the criminal justice system, and instead helping them with age and developmentally appropriate alternatives.”
-Jeff Beall, Donor-Activist with Liberty Hill
Our donors even organized their own kids and brought more than 50 of their friends together for a student-led Postcard Party, encouraging elected officials to support alternatives to incarceration for youth. Together, they sent more than 200 postcards to elected officials!
Thank you to our donor-activists for their support!
