E+J Giving Circle Honors Andrea Vidaurre
Liberty Hill’s Environment + Justice Giving Circle gathered at Steering Committee Member Julia Meltzer’s arts and culture nonprofit, Clockshop to celebrate Co-Founder of People’s Collective for Environmental Justice (PC4EJ), Andrea Vidaurre and her recent honor as the North American 2024 Goldman Prize Winner!
Andrea Vidaurre was awarded by the global institution for her leadership on two historic transportation regulations that significantly limit trucking and rail emissions in California. The In-Use Locomotive Rule, the nation’s first emission rule for trains, and the California Advanced Clean Fleets Rule, are a product of Andrea’s resilient leadership and commitment to finding solutions for the impacts of the global freight transportation system.
As the sole honoree for the North American region, Andrea joins environmental champions from around the world that have made significant efforts to protect and enhance the natural environment.
The People’s Collective for Environmental Justice—co-founded by Andrea in 2020 to advocate for a just transition toward zero emissions—was recently selected as a Liberty Hill Environment + Justice Donor Circle grantee.
At the event, Circle members and guests heard from Andrea and the PC4EJ team about environmental justice organizing in the Inland Empire and the harmful effects of warehousing and freight caused by environmental racism.
