LHF Grantee Partners Jump into Action

In the wake of the recent firestorms, many of Liberty Hill’s dedicated Grantee Partners have mobilized to provide assistance to neighbors and communities across LA County that have been impacted by the devastation.

Since the outset, frontline organizations and community partners have been diligently engaging with those affected, providing much needed support and resources. Their unwavering response and initiatives are making it easier for impacted individuals to access emergency assistance services, financial support and essential needs.

Liberty Hill extends its deepest gratitude to all the organizers, activists and volunteers who are on the frontlines providing unwavering support to affected communities. Their courage, resilience and selflessness serve as a beacon of hope during these challenging times.

  • Anti-Recidivism Coalition – created the Firefighter Fund to support the incarcerated firefighters at work on the crews still battling fires across the region.
  • Brotherhood Crusade – partnered with L.A. Sentinel, Urban One, Radio One and Reach Media to launch the Brotherhood Crusade Wildfire Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to the residents and business owners of Altadena and Pasadena who have been impacted by the Eaton fire.
  • Chinatown Coalition for Equitable Development – launched a mutual aid effort to provide relief for tenants and unhoused communities in Chinatown and have led demonstrations to seek an eviction moratorium and rent freeze in LA County.
  • Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) – launched its iRelief Fund, a cash assistance program to assist low-income families and undocumented individuals impacted by the wildfires and who do not qualify for FEMA or federal disaster relief.
  • IDEPSCA – organized a relief collection for household workers and other individuals who are often left behind in relief efforts including domestic laborers, cooks, and cleaners.
  • Inner City Struggle – created an emergency fund to provide direct cash assistance to street vendors, landscape workers, recyclers, and other outdoor workers through its Emergency Cash Assistance for Outdoor Workers fund.
  • National Day Laborer Organizing Network – launched the Immigrant Fire Relief Fund to support the Pasadena Community Job Center, helping distribute food, water, N-95 masks, and other PPE to support laborers and other low-wage workers.
  • Pasadena Organizing for Progress – led mutual aid efforts in collaboration with organizations in the San Gabriel Valley region, providing direct assistance to residents who have been displaced and connecting them to necessary resources.
  • SCOPE LA – organized a temporary donation center and created the Wildfire Relief Fund to help provide food and essential supplies for those in need.
  • SELAH Homeless Coalition – provided mutual aid to unhoused individuals, as well as N95 masks, water, and hygiene kits among other PPE items to impacted individuals.
  • Social Justice Learning Institute – created the Wildfire Response Fund for families impacted by the fires and provided detailed guidance about tenant and renters’ rights, information about price gauging and housing discrimination, and access to FEMA assistance.
  • TRUST South LA – distributed more than 150 air purifiers, anti-fog masks and googles to residents in South LA affected by the hazardous air quality from the fires.
  • Youth Justice Coalition – launched Emergency Funds to directly support currently and formerly incarcerated youth and their parents who are impacted by the LA fires and systemic harm.
