Newly Released: Addressing Legal Issues in Youth Diversion Toolkit

As part of our commitment to restorative justice, Liberty Hill joined the Annie E. Casey Foundation in funding the creation of a youth justice resource toolkit that explores legal considerations for successful youth diversion programs.

The newly released toolkit titled “Addressing Legal Issues in Youth Diversion” was authored by the Criminal Justice Program at the UCLA School of Law and helps jurisdictions create and implement youth diversion programs — approaches that steer youth away from the legal system and into community-based, supportive services in lieu of formal court processing.

The toolkit offers recommendations and checklists so communities can proactively address many of the common legal and policy issues they are likely to face when implementing diversion programs.
