PICO California Names Former Liberty Hill Board Co-Chair Jared Rivera as New Chief of Staff
PICO California has recently announced the appointment of Jared Rivera—former Liberty Hill Foundation Co-Chair—as their new Chief of Staff!
In this new capacity, Jared will be responsible for overseeing the largest faith-based community organizing network in the state, as well as implementing political and organizing strategies that align with the mission and statewide organizing initiatives of the organization.
“I started my career with PICO 20 years ago. It’s where I learned to organize. The blending of faith and power has always been what’s motivated me both professionally and personally. I’m so joyful to return home. At this point in our history, I can’t imagine a better fit,” shared Jared.
Jared joins PICO California following his tenure as the Deputy Mayor of Community Engagement in Los Angeles under Mayor Karen Bass. He brings over 20 years of extensive experience as a community and labor organizer, coalition builder and political strategist.
In 2016, he held the position of labor director for the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign, and in 2017, he was appointed as the political director of California’s largest local union, SEIU Local 2015.
In addition to his work within the labor movement, Jared has made significant contributions to the social justice movement of Los Angeles through his involvement on Liberty Hill’s Board of Directors from 2014 to 2025.
