The White House Webinar on Environmental Justice
Earlier this month, Liberty Hill Senior Director of Environmental & Climate Justice Angelo Logan joined White House officials, Federal agency representatives and others at a webinar celebrating the first anniversary of Executive Order 14096, Revitalizing Our Nation’s Commitment to Environmental Justice for All.
As guest speaker, Angelo discussed the role of philanthropy and the impact that Environmental Justice initiatives, such as the Biden-Harris Administration's Justice 40 Initiative, can have on frontline communities as they advance community solutions to address environmental racism and the climate crisis.
Through the Executive Order and the White House’s Environmental Justice initiative and programs, many frontline organizations have been encouraged to continue to engage and inform federal-level environmental and climate justice policy.
“There’s been no other time when at the federal level, an initiative has brought together government, communities, and philanthropy to brainstorm, problem solve, and bolster the implementation of resiliency, sustainable energy, community revitalization, and job-inducing projects,” shared Angelo.
The executive order and initiative are widely seen as tools to aid in the transformation of frontline communities, unlocking opportunities to realize Environmental Justice across the country.
For Liberty Hill, environmental justice is a cornerstone of social justice. As federal funding for climate, environmental and social justice initiatives becomes steadily available, Liberty Hill is committed to continue supporting our frontline community partners in the fight for a safer, healthier, and greener L.A.
