California’s Philanthropic Leaders Stand United Against Hate & Division

In the wake of political orders and actions that are bringing fear into our communities, leaders reaffirm their commitment to protecting communities, defending progress, and keeping the California Dream within reach for all.

A coalition of California’s leading philanthropic organizations issued the following joint statement:

"As California's philanthropic leaders, we stand committed to advancing the resilience, renewal, and unity of the communities we serve. Forces may try to terrorize, divide, and demonize us — but we will not let them define us or our story. California proves that prosperity grows when all people have the building blocks to a good life: safe homes, clean air, good schools, quality healthcare, food on the table, and decent jobs. We are unwavering in our commitment to protect our people and our progress. Even in the face of indiscriminate fires that have stripped our families of loved ones, houses, and jobs - we have not lost our sense of community. We know that what ties us together outweighs what tears us apart. While we may grieve the pain many of our communities are experiencing right now, their resilience fuels our resolve. The California Dream is the American Dream — one enshrined in our constitution, that says freedom and the opportunity to build a better life belongs to all of us. We will not rest until this dream is realized."
