This Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we’re highlighting the significant impact of Liberty Hill’s Circle of Change giving circle and their support of frontline AANHPI nonprofit organizations and projects that make transformative, positive social change within the AANHPI communities in Southern California. This year, Liberty Hill’s Environmental + Justice Donor Circle raised $200,000 in unrestricted operating grants which will be awarded to 10 organizations working at the frontlines of the environmental justice movement.

In the latest in a series of educational events hosted by our Environmental + Justice Donor Circle, Liberty Hill and its community partners at Resources Legacy Fund and Active SGV shared exciting updates about the EJ Ready initiative. Liberty Hill Donor Activist and SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director, David White is no stranger to activism. He leads the world’s largest entertainment union, representing more than 160,000 diverse members worldwide who work in fields of film, television, commercials, music, video games and emerging media.

Last month’s inaugural "I Am A Philanthropist" Black Philanthropy Month event sponsored by Uplifting Change brought together giving circle members, donor activists, and community organization leaders from across Los Angeles.

Liberty Hill kicked off the new year with its “Transformative 2022: Ring in Your New Year of Giving'' Webinar Series. The Next Gen Giving Circle invites new donor activists (ages 25-45) to explore the social justice landscape of Los Angeles. The Next Gen Giving Circle was created with the goal of promoting and leading social change through collective support of nonprofit organizations that center the perspectives of marginalized communities in their work and are positioned to transform systems that impact them.

The Angelenos for L.A. Giving Circle is a member driven group that awards grants to organizations effecting real change in Los Angeles. Specifically, their mission is to create and support positive social change in the Black community of greater Los Angeles.

These donor activists have recognized Liberty Hill Foundation in their estate plans or other planned giving arrangements to help ensure resources for future generations of grassroots activists and organizations committed to building a more just society.

Inspired by Susan Watanabe, Susan's Circle seeks to identify and invest in leaders who have taken on the responsibility of public service and have inspired the participation of others to make our communities and country better for everyone.
