Economic & Housing Justice
Liberty Hill supports organizing that builds prosperous communities through living wages, worker protections, and fair housing for all.
Economic & Housing Justice at Liberty Hill
Liberty Hill knows that inequality is engineered, not inevitable. Through the Economic & Housing Justice priority area, Liberty Hill supports grassroots groups like worker centers, public health councils, advocacy groups, tenant and homeowner rights groups, and advocacy campaigns fighting for:
Collective bargaining, living wages, safe and healthy working conditions, and equal opportunity and access to employment
Stopping wage theft and ensuring that L.A. workers are paid what they earn
Fighting to put a roof over every head by increasing affordable housing for renters as well as expanded tenant protections for low income Angelenos.
Our Economic Justice Work
Stay Housed L.A.
Stay Housed L.A. is a partnership between Liberty Hill, the County of L.A., tenant-led community organizations, and legal services providers to provide tenants with the support needed to exercise their rights so that they can remain safely in their homes.
Public Health Councils
The L.A. County Department of Public Health and Liberty Hill have launched a Public Health Councils (PHC) program to increase compliance of COVID-19 health orders in sectors disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Funded organizations have experience providing outreach, education, and advising to low-wage workers on workplace and health-related issues.
